Geusu Nero d’Avola comes from the vineyards of Mazara del Vallo (TP), about 300 metres above sea level in western Sicily, where the vines grow in sun-drenched soils cooled by the sea breeze.
After gentle crushing, the must stays on its skins for the whole alcoholic fermentation, drawing out colour and character. The wine then rests for about six months in stainless steel, which keeps it fresh and balanced.
Colour — deep, bright ruby red.
Nose — ripe cherry, plum, blackberry and black pepper.
Palate — soft and full-bodied, with a long finish of fruit and spice.
Alcohol — 14% ABV.
Pair with — red meat, roasts, baked pasta and aged cheeses. Serve at 16–18 °C.
A single-varietal wine: Nero d’Avola grapes only, never blended.
