A winery named after a tree

Cantine Geusu was born in Sicily from the memory of a grandfather, a small vineyard and a glass of wine with mulberries in it.

Our story

Deep roots, eyes ahead

Our name tells an old story. The mulberry, u geusu in Sicilian, is the tree Pliny the Elder called the wisest in nature: it does not put out its leaves until the cold has truly passed.

In the Metamorphoses, Ovid tells how the mulberry's fruit, once white, turned dark for the love of Pyramus and Thisbe, and has kept that colour ever since. We find the same deep black in our flagship wine, the Nero d'Avola.

The rest is a family memory. On the hottest days, in a small Sicilian village, my grandfather would come home and allow himself a simple ritual: a glass of wine with mulberries in it. A gesture made of patience, pleasure and belonging. That is where we started.

“From my grandfather's small vineyard to your table: Geusu is the warm embrace of the real Sicily.”

The founder, Cantine Geusu

Our values

Three words, one idea of wine

Wisdom

We respect nature's timing and listen to the land and to the experience of those who came before us. Like the mulberry, we don't force what the season hasn't yet decided.

Passion

We follow every bottle from the vineyard to the glass. We don't make large volumes: quality isn't a goal for us, it's the only way we know how to work.

Love

For Sicily, for our roots and for everyone who chooses to bring a piece of this land home. There's a little of us in every bottle.
